Outdoor Spaces
Interior design meets fresh air in a well-designed outdoor space. This week we have been anticipating family gatherings and beautiful views as we finalize details for a fantastic outdoor kitchen.
For this lakeside project, the outdoor kitchen is the main space for food prep, entertaining and clean up. Inside, the only kitchen appliances will be a dishwasher and undercounter microwave, but no oven or burners. That said, the outdoor kitchen will have everything the family needs for dining al fresco!
For cooking, an XL Traeger grill will be the star of the show. This is another item that I have used personally and highly recommend. It seems like you can literally cook anything to perfection on a Traeger. To round off the cooking facilities, there will be two gas burners and a third induction burner.
For clean up, there will be an extra large, deep stainless steel sink with a sliding cutting board. All of the cupboards below will be air-tight cupboards from JW Metal Products.
On their website, JW Metal boasts that they “build the absolute best outdoor cabinets with the finest materials available.” I can attest to their many customizable options, their quality and customer service. The outdoor cabinets are 18 gauge welded metal, which means they are heavy duty and stable. They claim to use marine grade 316L stainless steel exteriors and 304 stainless steel interiors to insure corrosion resistance, even in coastal installations. To me, that means they will be functional for an outdoor space on the lake. I also love the exterior grade silicone rubber gaskets around all doors and drawers that prevents water and dust from intruding and maintains a dry storage environment. To me, that means that we selected a custom combination of drawers and base cupboards and food or paper products will be safe and dry outside, year-round, without concern.
The countertop will be a gorgeous black quartzite that will finish off the entire space with class. Yet one my favorite features is going to be the two large pull-out trash cans. Again, the customizable options are endless and the stainless steel trash cans drawers also have the air-tight rubber gaskets, conquering smells, weather and rodent control.
