A Gold Star Room
The bed for this space was delivered this week and it’s a show-stopper. But what I love most is how the wallpaper, rug and pillows were all sourced from separate places, yet flow together seamlessly.
There is an art to flawlessly bringing together items from various sources to create a harmonious and unique space. The magic lies in the ability to curate a collection that tells a story, with each piece contributing to the overall aesthetic. Fortunately, designers have access to a variety of sources to pull a room together, creating spaces that are both visually stunning and deeply personal.
I like to bring in furniture, accessories, and art from different places, periods, cultures, and styles. The key is to find a common thread—a color, a texture, or a shape—that ties everything together, creating a cohesive and visually appealing composition. In this case, the magic was gold. Literally. A touch of gold in every piece tied the room together.
Whether it’s a bold golden hue, subtle neutrals, or vibrant jewel tones, the chosen palette acts as the thread that ties together disparate elements, creating a sense of cohesion. Layering pieces that speak to my client brings authenticity to a room, making it feel curated rather than cataloged. This is critical to helping my clients “embrace their space” as they plan to “enjoy their view.”
As seen with this project, when the thought behind the plan turns out this well, it’s golden!
